To commemorate the anniversary of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States, the City of West Hollywood and its Women’s Advisory Board in partnership with the National Council of Jewish Women|Los Angeles will host Roe@49, Courageous Conversations on Abortion. Join us for a night of open, honest, and meaningful conversations with community as we rise against the growing policy-based assault on abortion access. The event will include an opening address hosted by Vanessa LeMaistre, Program Coordinator, Black Women for Wellness-Sisters in Control: Reproductive Justice and Get Smart B4 You Get Sexy with Keynote Speaker: Fabiola Carrión, Director Reproductive and Sexual Health - National Health Law Program. This year's event also offers attendees a unique opportunity to lead guided conversations on abortion with friends, family, and the larger community! There will be breakout rooms for small group conversations and ways to take action. Event partners include Black Women for Wellness; California Latinas for Reproductive Justice; Planned Parenthood Los Angeles; Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project (WRRAP) and ACCESS Reproductive Justice.
