“The Papi Project” visualizes a queer family during the height of the AIDS pandemic amidst cruising landscapes. This project permeates and transverses into critical discourse around a disease that has gone from a death threat to manageable with current new HIV drugs (although not necessarily accessible to all). Artist Oli Rodriguez revisits that era of the AIDS epidemic to reframe, reclaim and retell the history of so many queer men lost, the families of children that were affected. This program is supported in part by an arts grant from the City of West Hollywood.
