The singers of VOX Femina Los Angeles, have recorded Moira Smiley's "Refugee" from their homes, which will be edited together to create a cohesive choral recording, with piano accompaniment. Composer Moira Smiley wrote “Refugee” after she volunteered at the Calais Jungle refugee camp in France in 2016. The piece musically depicts the deep connections between human beings all over the world: rhythmic melodies alternate between different voice sections in the ensemble, parts interlock and trade and come together in unison, exchanging musical ideas and experiences. This presentation is supported in part by an arts grant from the City of West Hollywood.
