Handel's Julius Caesar recounts one of history's great love stories, the story of Caesar and Cleopatra -- though Handel wove threads into the tale that are more operatic than they are historic. The libretto was written by Giacomo Francesco, and the opera was first performed at the King's Theater in London, in 1724. The action is based on Julius Caesar’s Egyptian visit of 48-47 BC. The duration: 3 Hours, with intermission
