On My Way Out: The Secret Life of Nani and Popi - LA Premiere!
Directed by Brandon Gross, Skyler Gross
Documentary/USA/2017/40 minutes

All families have secrets. Having survived the Holocaust and tragically lost family members, Roman and Ruth Blank, affectionately known as Nani and Popi have been married for 60 years. They raised a family in America and built a successful business. Now at age 95, a deeply-held secret is revealed: Popi is gay, and finally free to explore his identity and seek the companionship he craves. But the revelation is not without repercussions as the news deeply impacts Nani, and their daughters scramble to understand their parents in a new light. The film, created by the grandsons is awkwardly humorous at moments, and filled with tenderness, but one thing is clear; love is complicated. Q&A with filmmaker Brandon Gross
