4th Annual West Hollywood Women’s Leadership Conference & Network Mini-Film Festival

In Celebration of National Women’s History Month on International Women’s Day, the City of West Hollywood will host the premiere of the new short film Brave Girl Rising, which tells how a courageous girl, inspired by the magical dreams of her mother and the sisterhood of friends, succeeds in getting the education she deserves. This powerfully emotional film is a collaboration with acclaimed Somali poet Warsan Shire (Beyonce’s Lemonade) and voiced by actors Tessa Thompson (Sorry to Bother You, Men in Black: International and Golden Globe winner David Oyelowo, this short film is a testament to how hope and love can propel us beyond even the bleakest of circumstances.  The program is presented in conjunction with the City’s annual West Hollywood Women’s Leadership Conference & Network Mini-film Festival and its Human Rights Speaker Series. Special guest speakers include director and Martha Adams and Sarah Smith, Senior Director of Education at the International Rescue. Committee.  Brave Girl Rising was made possible by Girl Rising, the non-profit behind the global campaign for girls' education and empowerment, International Rescue Committee, Citi Bank and HP.
