Sense of Place by Jose Davila exhibition Closing Reception
Join the Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND) to celebrate the culmination of a nine-month exhibition that took place across the Los Angeles region. Sense of Place consists of an eight-foot square cube sculpture comprised of 40 individual concrete conjunctional forms. Initially installed at West Hollywood Park, over the course of the past nine months the sculpture was slowly disassembled, and individual pieces were installed at various locations across Los Angeles, taking on different functional forms at each location. The Sculpture has returned to its original whole cube in West Hollywood Park, holding its histories in its reunited form, and serving as a tactile portrait of Los Angeles. Commissioned by LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division) and part of the Getty's Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, Sense of Place in Davila's largest public undertaking to date and his first major exhibition in Los Angeles.
