Commemoration of Victory in Europe Day

10:00 AM

Three West Hollywood community members and veterans of World War II, Mr. Yefim Stolyarsky, Mr. Efim Kutz, and Mr. Vladimir Barkon will be honored through the unveiling of memorial benches. These three significant community leaders helped lead the Los Angeles Association of Veterans of World War II, an organization founded in 1977 in a World War II veteran’s West Hollywood apartment as a way to socialize and preserve the legacy of veterans. Their accomplishments are invaluable to West Hollywood and the Russian-speaking community. At the meeting on December 19, 2017, the Russian Advisory Board voted to approve benches with a memorial plaque in honor of these men and their service to the community. The proposed memorial benches will be unveiled to kick off the annual Victory in Europe Day celebration in Plummer Park.

11:30 AM

Please join the Russian Veterans as they commemorate Victory in Europe Day.  The ceremony marks the defeat of the Nazi forces and remembers the estimated 50 million people who died during WWII.  Residents who are veterans of WWII will be honored. City officials and City staff will greet Veterans and their guests. The audience will enjoy a concert dedicated to the 73rd Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
