During the month of January we will be hosting our sixth annual clothing drive for the youth at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Youth Center on Highland.
Many of these young people are homeless or were previously homeless, and The Center’s dedicated staff works to connect them to services, shelter, and educational and employment opportunities. As you may imagine, many of these young people don’t have proper clothing for job interviews or winter weather. That’s where you can help.
The Youth Center is in the greatest need of the items below:
- Dress clothes – pants, shirts, suits, belts
- Shoes (men’s 7-13, women’s 6-12, with the shoes tied together)
- Jeans (all adult sizes)
- Jackets (all adult sizes for all weathers)
- New and used backpacks
- Travel sized hygiene items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, shaving items, etc.)
- New packages of socks and underwear (men’s and women’s)
- $5 gift cards for Target (these are used to purchase items for interviews; gift card donations can be left with me or with Social Services staff on the 3rd floor)
There will be a collection bin in the first floor lobby from January 2-31
