Swedish Women’s Educational Association Los Angeles (SWEA LA) is proud and pleased to invite you to the free award ceremony of its annual film scholarship and screening of the The Square. This year’s winner, Sarah Gampel will be receiving her award right after the screening which will commence at 4pm on December 9th, 2017. SWEA LA is honored to work with great sponsors and partners to bring this event to life. Special thanks to SACC, Magnolia Pictures and to the City of West Hollywood.
The Square won the prestigious Palme D’or in Cannes earlier this year and the movie is also Sweden's official Academy Award entry for Best Foreign Language Film. The film is written and directed by filmmaker Ruben Östlund and stars Claes Bang, Elisabeth Moss, Dominic West and Terry Notary, and centers on the respected curator of a contemporary art museum and the hijinks that ensue following the installation of his new exhibition The Square.
The film screening will be held at the West Hollywood City Council Chambers/Public Meeting Room, 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069. Parking validation will be provided for guests.
