What are the dynamics of contemporary political economy, and how does it impact and intertwine with art? How has neoliberalism, and the various global financial fluctuations created new parameters, and continuing obstacles for artists and critical engagement? These issues will be addressed utilizing current innovations and investigations from a critical theory committed to thinking these questions from a set of renewed Marxist perspectives. The CalArts WHAP! Lecture series is organized by the Cal Arts MA Aesthetics and Politics program and supported in part by the City of West Hollywood's WeHo Arts program (www.weho.org/arts).
