With the support of the City of West Hollywood's WeHo Arts program, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre presents "Back in Circulation" re-envisioned at the West Hollywood Library on Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at 7:30pm.
Artistic Director Heidi Duckler is joined by core company dancers, Micah ‘Jamz’ Abbrey, Lenin Fernandez and Zoe Nelson, visual designer, Mimi Haddon, and composer, percussionist and multimedia artist, Andrea Centazzo, to collaborate on the series.
Built by the City of West Hollywood and opened 6 years ago in October 2011, the West Hollywood Library is among the most impressive pieces of public architecture in Southern California. The library includes long expanses of floor-to-ceiling glass windows that look over the major West Hollywood thoroughfare, San Vicente Boulevard, and across to the iconic Pacific Design Center.
Duckler’s choreography will focus on the vast windows of the library as symbolic thresholds for sharing information, as well as containers of public space. Among the most critical topics of discussion in America over the last several years has been our access to information: its availability, accuracy, creation, destruction, and veracity. No single site or landmark in American culture is more synonymous with “information” than the public library. In "Back in Circulation," Duckler activates the West Hollywood site to explore contemporary questions of knowledge and understanding through movement.
This performance is made possible with funding from the City of West Hollywood's WeHo Arts program.
Tickets: $25 General Admission, $20 Seniors/Students (https://backincirculationagain.eventbrite.com)
A free dress rehearshal of the work will be presented on Friday, October 6th, 2017 at 7:00pm as part of a celebration of the West Hollywood Library's 6th Anniversary which is co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood, the West Hollywood branch of the County of LA Public Library, and the Friends of the West Hollywood Library.
