Outfest presents this monthly screening series with the support of the City of West Hollywood through WeHo Arts (www.weho.org/arts). Juan Carlos Zaldivar’s 90 Miles (2001) tells the personal tale of the filmmaker’s journey at age 13 from a small town in Cuba to Miami. Through interviews with family and home videos shot in the United States and Cuba, Zaldivar explores the personal and political forces that shape his Cuban-American identity. With the uncertainty of US-Cuba relations in the Trump era, 90 Miles offers us an opportunity to see the personal effect of the decades-long embargo between the two countries, reminding us of its very personal toll.
Filmmaker Juan Carlos Zaldivar will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A. http://www.outfest.org/weho-series
