(Cancelled Due to Rain) Volunteer for V-Day!

  • Date: February 18, 2017 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Location: West Hollywood Park
    647 N. San Vicente Boulevard

The City will commemorate the 19th anniversary of V-Day with a local outreach activity promoting its public-awareness campaign — Only Yes Means Yes — to encourage people in the community to be more aware of sexual assault and to promote a message of consent.  Join members of the West Hollywood City Council; the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Station; Block by Block Security Ambassadors; and the City of West Hollywood’s Women’s Advisory Board and Public Safety Commission, local violence prevention organizations and activists as they distribute informational materials. The Only Yes Means Yes campaign uses graphics inspired by roadway directional signage. The message is serious, but the creative direction is colorful and direct to ensure that messages are accessible. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls founded by the playwright Eve Ensler (The Vagina Monologues). Each year, thousands of V-Day benefit events take place between February and April, produced by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world, educating millions of people about the reality of violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation, and sex slavery.
