Join Michèle Lamy and Helen Molesworth in conversation on the occasion of Rick Owens: Furniture at MOCA Pacific Design Center. The exhibition presents a new group of large-scale sculptures, furniture, and a video by Owens, a renowned Paris-based fashion and furniture designer, alongside a selection of works by the late Steven Parrino. Owens's furniture is all produced by Lamy, an entrepreneur, collaborator, producer, wife, and business partner to Rick Owens, and the primary creative force behind the exhibition. Lamy and Molesworth discuss the punk and anarchist design sensibility of the furniture; finding inspiration in both “high” and “low” forms of American culture, from monochromatic painting and minimalist sculpture, to bike culture, film noir, and cult horror movies; and the influence of Parrino's “misshaped canvases.” This program is presented with the support of the City of West Hollywood through WeHo Arts (www.weho.org/arts) or http://www.moca.org/programs
