Presented by the City of West Hollywood through WeHo Arts (www.weho.org/arts) as part of its Free Theatre in the Parks program, Classical Theatre Lab presents The Country Wife in King's Road Park on Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm from September 17 to October 23, 2016. William Wycherley’s comic masterpiece, The Country Wife, is a 1675 sex romp and is perhaps the bawdiest of Restoration comedies. Wycherley's play introduces Horner, who claims to be impotent so that husbands and guardians will suppose him a safe companion for their women. His ruse fools the men of London ensuring Horner his way with any and every woman, especially the beautiful, naïve and newly married Margery. In his rollicking comedy Wycherley satirizes marriage, infidelity, jealousy, and love.
