One City One Pride: Celebration Theatre New Works - Pathetic Fallacy by Carla Tomaso

  • Date: June 21, 2016 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
  • Location: Council Chambers
    625 N. San Vicente Boulevard

Pathetic Fallacy, directed by Alan Freeman, is a farcical tragi-comedy about Julie, a hyper-sensitive Catholic school girl, whose family is glued together by lies.  Julie is trying to write a terrific novel about her parents, but they and everybody else get in the way, including her needy English teacher, her brothers: monastery-dropout Troy and poor dead little Ed – not to mention Julie herself who discovers she’s attracted to girls.  Even her cardboard-cutout classmates shun her.  But when she uncovers her parents’ secret, she gains the courage to push through to a mostly happy ending.

Carla Tomaso (playwright) has had four Los Angeles area productions of her plays including, Nocturne, Therapy, The Santa Ana Condition and Internal Examination. She’s written five novels including The House of Real Love and Matricide, published by Plume.

Celebration Theatre presents new LGBTQ works bi-monthly with the support of the City of West Hollywood through WeHo Arts (www.weho.org/arts). Free admission, with donations accepted. No RSVP is necessary. This production takes place during One City One Pride, the City's LGBTQ arts festival which runs from May 22 - June 30 with the theme 'Into The Streets'.
