Post Date:October 27, 2010
web awardThe City of West Hollywood was recently honored with the Web Marketing Association’s WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in Web Development as the Best Government Website. Now in its 14th year, the WebAwards are recognized internationally as one of the premier industry-based website awards. The City of West Hollywood has worked diligently over the past few years to be on the leading edge of technological innovation with its communication efforts. The integrated use of its website, www.weho.org , is part of the City’s recently adopted New Media Strategy.

“The City is thrilled to be recognized for its creative efforts at expanding communication to the public,” said Mayor John Heilman. “Congratulations to our outstanding Public Information Department for their hard work in pushing forward with new technology,” continued Mayor Heilman.

The City of West Hollywood’s website, launched in March of 2010, was designed by Vision Internet. Vision Internet is the national leader in government website development. The new website features a bold, innovative and dynamic front page, as well as tools for social media engagement, streaming video, RSS feeds and e-mail subscriptions.

“The design of www.weho.org reflects the unique elements that make West Hollywood such a distinctive city,” said Brett White the City’s Digital Media Coordinator. “This honor could not have been accomplished without collaborative efforts between Vision Internet, the City staff and our residents and businesses. We all won this,” White continued.

This year the Web Marketing Association’s WebAward Competition recognized websites in 96 different industries. Websites were judged using seven criteria: design, ease of use, copywriting, interactivity, use of technology, innovation and content. The competition was judged by a team of independent Internet professionals representing a variety of relevant disciplines of website development. Judges included members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, creative directors, corporate marketing executives, content providers and webmasters.
