TRIBE – West Hollywood Gay Men’s Discussion Group

“I’m Coming….OUT! Coming Out Every Day”

Join the City of West Hollywood at the new West Hollywood Gay Men’s Discussion Group. The West Hollywood Gay Men’s Discussion Group will meet the third Thursday of every month for a series of lightly moderated discussions open to the public to encourage attendees to discuss their own experiences about issues of importance to the Gay male community. The TRIBE discussion group will provide an open space for building relationships, promoting dialog, identifying challenges, and creating solutions for issues currently facing Gay men. In this month’s program, the TRIBE will discuss the process of coming out is not a one-time deal: our initial coming-out is followed by a nearly daily process of coming out every time we start a new job, move to a new city, reacquaint ourselves with old friends, or meet new ones. In this month’s program, the Tribe will share their coming out stories and difficulties and talk about why it is so important to come out, who to come out to, how to do it and how this never-ending process impacts our lives. Discussion topics include: why coming out is important; coming out in your daily life; to whom do you come out and how do you tell them; Personal or Political – Coming out as activism; Public Displays of Affection; mentoring and setting an example for gay youth.

Admission is free. Validated parking will be available in the 5-story parking structure adjacent to the Library. For more information, please visit www.weho.org/tribe  or email tribe@weho.org  TTY for the deaf and hard of hearing at (323) 848-6496.
