Sophie B. Hawkins - Conversation and Concert

Join the City of West Hollywood’s Summer Sounds concert series, and the Lesbian Speakers Series, for an insightful conversation and concert with singer-songwriter and musician, Sophie B. Hawkins.

Born in New York City, Hawkins attended the Manhattan School of Music for a year as a percussionist before leaving to pursue a career in music. She achieved critical and commercial success with her first two albums, producing a string of single hits including "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover", "Right Beside You", and "As I Lay Me Down." Hawkins is a long-time supporter of animal rights and environmental causes, as well as a social and political activist, supporting events promoting women in music and LGBT rights.
