2021 City of West Hollywood Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

  • Date: January 31, 2021  (all day)
  • Location: Virtual Event

In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day federal holiday as a National Day of Service. Each year, the City of West Hollywood participates in this call to action. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will not be an in-person volunteer activity but there will be two opportunities to support the community virtually through donation drives. The City, in partnership with West Hollywood Elementary School and Friends of West Hollywood Elementary School (FOWHE), will be collecting monetary and gift card donations to support new socks, blankets, and sleeping bags for the West Hollywood Homeless Initiative.  The 2021 City of West Hollywood Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service will be held virtually from January 16 – 31, 2021.

Community members can contribute to the virtual day of service in the following ways:

  • Donations of gift cards or checks can be mailed to: City of West Hollywood, c/o West Hollywood Homeless Initiative, 8300 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA, 90069.
  • Credit card donations of any amount can be made here.
  • The City is, additionally, encouraging donations to the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Youth Center to provide needed supplies to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth who are experiencing homelessness. Supplies for the Youth Center can be purchased using their “CARE 4 Youth Essentials” wish list on Amazon at lalgbtcenter.org/care4youth
