The City of West Hollywood's new text messaging program, powered by Community, is extremely intuitive and serves as an innovative and personalized way for community members to stay connected to the City. The program is launching as a pilot phase to help us receive direct feedback that'll shape text communications and best respond to community interests and needs. During this initial phase, we will communicate about topics related to WeHo Pride including weekend events, street and facility closures, important announcements, and more! After WeHo Pride (end of June 2023), we will transition into our longer-term pilot program and release a list of select categories that community members can subscribe to related to general City news, updates, and announcements.

The text messaging tool helps users to choose subjects about which they prefer to receive text messages, and will not distribute unrelated advertising or spam messages. As the first municipal government using Community, we'll have a unique opportunity to help shape a new standard of government text communications.

One important note is that this platform is not used to request City services, distribute emergency and public safety alerts, or ask a question. Emergency and public safety alerts are distributed via Nixle, a robust notification system utilized by over 8,000 public safety agencies. To subscribe to emergency and public safety alerts, text your ZIP Code to 888777. Learn more by clicking here. To ask a question to the City of West Hollywood or reach a specific City Department, contact us at (323) 848-6400. The West Hollywood App remains the best place to request City services.
