On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, the City of West Hollywood will hold its General Municipal Election.  This will allow the Citizens of West Hollywood to elect three (3) members to the City Council.  

The nomination period for City Council candidates begins on November 12, 2018 and ends on December 7, 2018.  If you are interested in running for City Council please contact the City Clerk’s Office (323-848-6409) in early November to schedule an appointment to receive your nomination papers and review all required deadlines for becoming an official candidate on the March 5, 2019 Ballot.

In addition, prior to raising or spending any funds for your campaign you must file a Candidate Intention Statement (Form 501) with the West Hollywood City Clerk’s Office.  Also, within 10 days of receiving $2000 or more in campaign contributions, you must file a Statement of Organization (Form 410). This form must be filed with the Secretary of State, and a copy must be filed with the West Hollywood City Clerk’s Office.  If you have any questions regarding the completion of these forms, please contact the California Fair Political Practices Commission at 1-866-ASK-FPPC, or visit their website

The California Secretary of State’s Voter Registration page allows you to register online. You must be 18 years of age, a United States citizen, and a resident of California.  You will need your California driver license, the last four (4) digits of your social security number, and your date of birth.

When you visit the Los Angeles County Registrar/Recorder’s Voting & Elections page, you will find additional information and resources related to elections.  You can apply to be a pollworker.  You can sign-up to receive your sample ballot via email.  In addition, there is information about voter and community outreach.
